Breakfast

As an owner of a Portuguese guesthouse, I am so thankful Portugal gave me the opportunity to establish a heaven on earth spot.

In return and out of gratitude towards the country and in particular Foz town, I try to support the local economy and businesses as much as I can.

Therefore, my guests can choose between having a breakfast (or brunch, why not?) on site or at a typical Portuguese pastelaria (bakery) in Foz do Arelho town. (Or even outside, eg. Caldas da Rainha, Obidos…)

Their local ‘pequeno almoco’ is delicious and very cheap. (less then 10 euro per person) You can taste their typical bread, tasty chourizos and cheeses, and not to forget their famous sweets like pasteis de nata! A good coffee, tea or fresh orange juice makes it just perfect! Coffeelovers will find here a wide range of different tastes. You can order a bica, um galao, um garoto, um abatanado, uma meia de leite or um americano… Make sure you order the correct one! 😉

Of course, there is also a spacious shared kitchen at Casas da Helena. It’s open to all customers and free of use. You can even prepare your own breakfast. You can sit and eat inside the kitchen or outside on the terrace at the patio. It’s both a perfect place to destress and taste the Portuguese way of living.
